Billy Spurway never shies away from chuckin’ buckets or huckin’ big hits. He’s made a name for himself as a top grafter and rider. Digging for comps and for fun, he’s never far from a spade or rake. His style on the bike is undeniable, and his work ethic is unflappable. Catch him busting shapes on home turf in a new series where we take a closer look at the riders and people who make Forbidden what it is.

Forbidden: In your own words, who is Billy Spurway?

Billy: A bike riding, trail building, summer chasing 25 year old from a small village in Gloucestershire, UK!

[F]: How long have you been riding for Forbidden, how did it come about?

I’m coming into my 5th year with Forbidden, which is wild! It all came about when I was actually on a snow season in Austria nursing a broken scaphoid… well basically escaping the UK during Covid! I got a message from Olly Forster, who was at the brand then, asking if I’m keen to ride for Forbidden. It was a no brainer, I said yes and came back to the uk to pick up my first bike, a V1 Druid in Bluesteel. From day one, I was stoked!

[F]: Where did your love of digging trails come from?

Digging is something me and my mates have always done from pretty early on really. It all started at our local hill Leckhampton, we’d always see the older guys digging and eventually w’d give it a go ourselves, building sketchy jumps and corners. It took some time, but we figured it out and we’d be up the hill every weekend building and riding. That’s where the love for it came from! Now it’s not just a passion it’s also a job that’s pretty cool! When it comes to videos though I believe digging is super important to stand out and showcase different unseen features! I spent a while digging the step down into 2 corners, but you have to trust the process, I’m stoked with how it came out! Thanks to the boys that helped on the build too – in particular Tom Jones (not the Welsh pop sensation, a mate from Cheltenham) and Cal!!

[F]: Tell us a bit about the bike you’ve been riding in the video, what makes it special?

For this video I was riding a Dreadnought v2, size S2 with a -5mm headset, it’s running a mini mullet 26/27.5, short 155mm cranks, and -10mm dropouts. It rips!

[F]: When you’re not on the Dreadnought, tell us about what other bikes you ride?

Druid v2 for all my trail bike needs! BMX been riding heaps of that recently, then I’ve got a Spesh p3 jump bike, then lots of skating

[F]: What’s your favourite feature about the bikes?

My favourite feature has to be the new drop outs having the ability to shorten the rear end. It’s so sick!

[F]: Finally what’s your ideal cafe order, tea and biscuits or coffee and cake?

My ideal cafe order is a summer vibes ice mocha, and sometimes something fruity; like an apple strudel bar!
